St. Pete Pride stands as Florida’s largest LGBTQ+ celebration, drawing over 300,000 people to downtown St. Petersburg each June.
But here’s what many visitors don’t realize: Pride in this region isn’t limited to one weekend. There are opportunities to celebrate Pride throughout the year in the St. Pete-Clearwater area.
Book your stay in one of our nearby vacation rentals to experience the full joy of Pride festivities, then retreat to a calm oceanfront setting. Here’s everything you need to know about St. Pete Pride’s lively events so that you can plan the perfect visit.
St. Pete Pride: History & Local Impact

What started as a small local march in the early 2000s has evolved into one of the Southeast’s premier Pride events, now celebrating over 20 years of community and inclusion.
The event has transformed St. Petersburg’s reputation as a queer-friendly destination, with zero-tolerance policies for hate and strong community partnerships that create a welcoming place for all. St. Pete Pride, Inc., a nonprofit organization, now runs year-round LGBTQ+ programming, not just the June festival.

Friday Night Concert and Market – June 26, 2026
Pride Weekend kicks off with a concert and market on the waterfront. You can enjoy live music and a host of local vendors. Head down from around 6 PM.
St. Pete Pride Parade and Festival – June 27, 2026
The Saturday Pride parade and festival serve as the heart of the celebration, getting started at 2 PM along the waterfront.
The parade travels along Bayshore Drive, passing through the Straub Park area, typically starting near Albert Whitted Park and ending near Vinoy Park. Expect floats, drag performers, marching groups, loud music, and confetti.
The daytime festival transforms North and South Straub Park into a vibrant community gathering with vendors, food trucks, drink stations, and live performances.
Local artisans, LGBTQ+ nonprofits, and sponsor booths line the waterfront. VIP tickets typically include shaded areas and private restrooms.
The Florida heat is serious, especially in June, so pack sunscreen, water, and comfortable shoes.

Beyond June: Other Pride & LGBTQ+ Events
St. Pete Pride may be the headline event, but the Tampa Bay area keeps the celebrations going well beyond June. From intimate waterfront gatherings to cool-weather festivities, here are more LGBTQ+ events worth planning a trip around.
Gulfport Pride
This quirky waterfront town, located 20–30 minutes from Gulf beaches, is set to host a Pride parade on May 31 and a Pride street festival on June 6, 2026. You can expect live music, drag performances, and sunset views over Boca Ciega Bay, ideal for travelers wanting a smaller-scale event.
Dunedin Pride
Dunedin offers craft beer culture and Pride festivities in late spring. The 2026 schedule is yet to be confirmed, but past events have included whisky tasting sessions, drag queen bowling, bar crawls, and pool parties.
Winter Pride & Cold-Season Events
Winter Pride St. Pete in mid-February shows up with mild temperatures and lively programming, including street parties, Drag Race competitions, and community mixers. Skip the June heat and sensory overload. This celebration draws thousands without the massive summer crowds.
Where to Stay: Beach Rentals Near St. Pete for Pride Weekends

Our Gulf Coast properties put you within easy reach of St. Pete Pride, with beach towns stretching from Dunedin down to Treasure Island, all within 30–50 minutes of the festivities.
Wake up to Gulf views, spend the day on the sand, and head into St. Pete when the festivities kick off.
Just 25–35 minutes from downtown St. Pete, Treasure Island puts you close enough to catch the parade and festival without the intensity.
Clearwater Beach and Indian Shores both offer slightly longer drives to St. Pete (35–50 minutes) but deliver some of the area’s most iconic white-sand shoreline. Larger multi-bedroom rentals here work well for friend groups or families splitting the cost of a Pride weekend getaway.
If you’re planning to make a day of Dunedin Pride in early June in addition to St. Pete’s festivities, staying local in Dunedin is a smart move.
Practical Tips for St. Pete Pride
St. Pete Pride draws massive crowds to a compact downtown footprint, so a little planning goes a long way. Here’s what to know about getting in, getting around, and staying comfortable on parade day.
Street Closures
Bayshore Drive will see rolling closures throughout the weekend, with the stretch from Albert Whitted Park north to 5th Ave NE usually closing at 1 PM for parade staging.
The segment from Central Ave to 5th Ave NE typically remains closed until 11 PM, when activities in North and South Straub Parks wrap up.
Getting Here & Parking
Parking near the parade route fills fast, so arriving early or skipping the car altogether is the smarter move. The SouthCore and Sundial garages are closest to the action, and the new Central Garage offers fairly affordable daily rates if you don’t mind a longer walk to the waterfront.
On June 28, the SunRunner and Route 9 are fare-free, and the Central Avenue Trolley runs fare-free year-round, making transit the easiest option for beach visitors heading downtown.
Weather & Crowds
June in St. Pete means heat, humidity, and wall-to-wall crowds by midday. Pack light clothing, a refillable water bottle, a portable fan, and sunscreen, and plan to hydrate often.
