Make Clearwater Beach your holiday travel destination this Thanksgiving. Most of the country spends Thanksgiving indoors, watching the weather turn. Here, the hardest decision is whether to eat before or after the beach.
Late November on the Gulf is quietly the best travel window Florida has. Hurricane season is over, the Christmas crowds are yet to arrive, and the ocean water is still warm enough to enjoy a day at the beach.
Bring everyone. Our vacation rentals run from Clearwater Beach down to Treasure Island, and many of them are spacious enough for big family reunions. You’ll be thankful for the full kitchens and multi-bedroom properties keeping the entire family together this holiday.
Here is how to spend Thanksgiving in Clearwater Beach, no matter if you’re booking a table for your turkey dinner or cooking it yourself.
Why come now
Why Clearwater Beach Is a Good Place to Spend Thanksgiving

School’s out, work approved your vacation days, and now, you’re looking for a break from the changing weather. Clearwater Beach is a popular choice for travelers seeking warmer pastures.
Late November days sit in the upper 70s with low humidity and very little rain, which is the kind of warm that makes a beach walk after dinner feel obvious rather than ambitious.
Good weather without lots of crowds.
The timing helps just as much. Thanksgiving lands in the gap between the end of hurricane season and the December rush. You can expect good weather without lots of crowds.
If you are considering the season more broadly, our guide to the best time to visit Clearwater breaks the year down month by month.

Other Things to Do Over Thanksgiving Weekend

There’s plenty to get up to in Clearwater Beach over Thanksgiving weekend. Here are a few ideas to get you started; you can find more in our full list of things to do in Clearwater Beach.
Spend a Morning at the Aquarium
Clearwater Marine Aquarium rescues dolphins and sea turtles and rehabilites them. It’s a fascinating place for kids, with interactive activities to help them learn about marine conservation.
Skip Black Friday for the Beach
Trading the mall for the sand is the easiest win of the weekend. The beach tends to be unusually quiet on the Friday morning while everyone else is shopping.
Visit to Sand Key Park
Ten minutes south, Sand Key Park is wider, calmer, and far less busy than the main beach, with picnic pavilions and a dog park at the north end.
Get Out on the Water
Dolphin tours, sightseeing cruises, and fishing charters all run over the holiday weekend out of the marina. Book a day or two ahead, since demand is higher over Thanksgiving.
