Pool Heating: Worth It in Winter

Florida's air temperature stays warm all year, but Gulf-fed pools cool off quickly from late November through March. Most of our private-pool properties offer optional pool heating for an additional nightly fee — and we strongly recommend it for any stay between December and February. A heated pool sits in the low 80s°F regardless of the outside temperature; an unheated pool in January can drop into the low 60s and is essentially unusable. Look for the "heated pool" badge on each listing.

Screened Pool Cages — Florida's Best-Kept Amenity

Many of our pool homes feature screened pool cages, sometimes called pool enclosures or "lanais." These do two important things: keep mosquitoes and palmetto bugs out (a real consideration during summer evenings) and shield the pool deck from leaves and debris. If you're visiting between June and October, a screened pool is the difference between a relaxed evening swim and constantly swatting bugs.
